Daily Dish: Enjoying the celebrations

Today is Hinamatsuri day in Japan (otherwise known as Girl’s Festival). On a sunny day with a hint of spring in the air, it is easy to feel nostalgic about this festival. While teaching international students in Japan, I enjoyed celebrating the various Japanese celebrations throughout the year. This one is particularly sweet because it features traditional dolls, lots of items in pink and girls in their girl’s day finery.

The 2010 Olympics left Vancouverites with the feeling that an opportunity for a celebration – special decorations and clothing in tow – is always a good thing.

So enjoy spring and enjoy creating those special opportunities for a celebration with your family, whatever they may be.
